I know a lot of people who are afraid of change, afraid to take risks and to try new things. I'm definitely not one of those people. As an artist, I crave change and have always been the type to make decisions easily, to push myself out of my comfort zone on the regular, and to be mostly unafraid of big risks- sometimes to a fault.
I know it's time for change when my spirit gets a little restless. I felt that restlessness after I had Josie, for example, and finally made my way back into the studio only to discover that my interests had changed and my curiosity and desire to try something new had blossomed. That's when I decided, on a whim, to order acrylic paints and work on canvas and wood again like I had in college.
It was one of the most refreshing changes I've ever made. I found JUST the right acrylic paints and fell instantly in love with this brand new color palette, these big new brushes, the new painting surface, and a new-found freedom to paint over mistakes with ease!
As I'm sure you know, I started painting ceramics this year and pushed myself, again, out of my comfortable studio and into people's homes and retail stores to teach classes and host painting parties.
And now, with a new sense of confidence and real excitement over the possibilities that lie ahead, I've decided to transition my entire business from offering WATERCOLOR portraits on paper to ACRYLIC portraits on cradled wood panels. These new portraits will have a different look and will come in bigger sizes than I've ever been able to offer before. I'm hoping to even offer framing services in my shop at an affordable price, which I'm thrilled about!
I still need to work out a few details but am hoping to launch this new collection on January 1, 2017. I'd love for you to follow along with me as I make this fun transition by dropping your email into the sign-up form at the top of this page.
Thank you for a fantastic 2016! Here's to a fresh new year in 2017.
